Why not just Bridges? What do sector solutions bring to the table?

Panel Discussion

November 7, 2019, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Central

Bridges Out of Poverty has evolved over the last 20 years to include many sectors within our communities. With the addition of the sectors and best practices created within those sectors, tools and strategies have also been developed for each sector. The question then becomes, why are you still using the Bridges workshop with other sectors? Why not talk “sector language” using the other workshops? Listen to our panel of practitioners talk about using specific tools to grow specific audiences and sectors within the community. Sectors included will be healthcare, business, criminal justice, and faith-based.

How to have a greater impact on poverty in a Bridges community

Phil DeVol

November 21, 2019, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Central

Answer these questions:

  • Are you satisfied with the impact your Bridges initiative is having on poverty in your community?
  • Can your community pass the ‘good life’ (economically, socially, environmentally) on to the next generation?
  • Do you want to expand your Bridges/Getting Ahead initiative to include more sectors?

In this webinar, Philip DeVol makes the case for engaging many sectors in the community in Bridges work. He will describe what can be accomplished in a one-day Bridges to Sustainable Communities workshop. He will take participants through a readiness checklist that helps lay the groundwork to be done before moving to this level of action. This session builds on 20+ years of experience of the Bridges learning community and is based largely on the book Bridges to Sustainable Communities.
