Las Artes Getting Ahead report highlights program successes
March 14, 2017Las Artes Arts and Education Center offers a unique learning environment set in one of Tucson, Arizona’s poorest yet most culturally vibrant communities. The center helps youth ages 17–22 to obtain a GED. Many of these students have not been successful in traditional schools and are at risk for under-employment or unemployment, low-paying jobs, and a cycle of poverty.
Las Artes is now offering Getting Ahead when students first come to the center, and that has improved retention rates from 20% to 60% as students advance through the program. The report below details this and other successes from the first year of implementation.
